Rescheduled for August 9th 2014 It’s Time for our Biggest Race of the Year, the 4th annual Intergalactic Buggy Championship. The IGBC features really large trophies and some of the best racing you’ll find anywhere. We get a good crowd of racers from all over the area and the competition for these coveted trophies is fierce. We’re building a nice new track for this one so there will be no “home-field” advantage for those of you coming in from out of town. Or a nice level playing field for those of you that are local We’ve opened it up for all types of buggies this year.
1/8 Expert Buggy 1/8 Sportsman Buggy E-Buggy Expert E-Buggy Sportsman 2wd 1/10 Buggy 4wd 1/10 Buggy
Practice starts at 9:00am Signup Closes at 11:30am and Racing Starts at Noon Anyone who has not signed up by 11:30 will miss the first Qualifier Track should be open Friday evening, not sure what time, but as early as possible.
Entry fees for trophy classes are:
$25 for first 1/8 classes, 15 for each additional 1/8 class $15 for each 1/10 scale class. Normal club fees apply for all non-trophy classes
3 qualifiers (rocket rounds) At least 7 minute mains. 30 minutes for Expert Buggy. (we’ll go over options in the driver’s meeting)
We supply House Transponders for anyone without a personal transponder at no extra charge. We have RC4 hybrid transponders for sale in the store. Power is limited in the pits and some racers are very good about sharing their power. Bring a generator if you have one, or plan to charge from your car battery or jump box. We do have a spare generator in the store, so if you’re in a jam for power let us know and we can work something out. We transmit on FM, so bring along a FM radio if you’d like to be able to hear more clearly (we don’t blast our PA). All other classes are welcome to run and normal entry fee apply.

Thursday @8:30, Update: Okay, the track is done, totally different, and it came out great, has nice flow and a couple of big triples in it. We still have to put the pipe down tomorrow after we roll it some more. It’s bone dry right now so it can handle some water – just not too much! Here’s what it looks like tonight:
Friday, July 18th, 2014, at 12:41 pm Okay Gang, here’s the official call: The Intergalactic is rescheduled until August 9th and will take the place of the Summer Classic. We will have a relaxed club race tomorrow evening at 5:30 if at all possible. The plan: The track is in great condition, but will need all day to dry up, and they are expecting “daytime heating” to bring us another round of showers tonight. We are going to get out on the track tomorrow after it dries up, clean up a few things, lay some pipe, and open it for practice, then racing at 5:30. Tomorrow night will NOT be part of the Hot Summer Nights Series. If we don’t get too much rain tonight, the track should be excellent for anyone that still wants to join us, or has already made travel plans. We will do every thing possible to get it open tomorrow evening. I’ll post up again tonight and give you all an update.
8/6/2014: Track is done! Same layout but changed some jumps are elevations. There are a lot of transitions and elevation changes, so let’s just say, your car is going to be very busy and setup is going to be critical if you want to win this one. Here’s a few shots:
We will be watering between rounds; track should be dialed by the mains.
Track opens at 9:00am on Saturday. We will prioritize the practice for the racers that have not had a chance to run on the track yet. So … if you’ve practiced, or run on the track already, please yield to your fellow racers that need some time to get use to the layout.
No Late Entries will be accepted – it forces us to resort the entire program and it’s not fair to make everyone wait because you didn’t get here on time or call. If you are running behind call the store and signup over the phone 210 651-0435.
That’s it, thanks, let’s do this, see you Saturday
Well this one is a wrap. 100 entries, a decent wind to keep things from getting too hot, and a lot of great competition. Big thanks to everyone that joined us for an epic day of racing. Here’s your 2014 InterGalactic Buggy Championship Winners!
are you starting on the straight away?
Yep, that’s the way Vike wants to do it
Who is ready for the race this weekend? I can’t wait!
Will this be part of the Summer Series due to the reschedule?
No, not part of HSN because it took the place of the Summer Classic which was scheduled to be a day race.
Going to start changing the jumps and whipping the track into shape on Tuesday night! Keeping the layout the same, but the jumps are going to be more technical in some areas.
We’re Racing!
Got a good group of racers here already and they’re going to get started rolling and laying pipe at 4:00.
We’ll open the track when they’re done
Should close signup around 6:00, racing shortly after.
Is the nitro main going to be at least 15 minutes?
Not sure, but I don’t see why not. Unless it gets too late and we need to trim the program down some.
Hell yeah I should be there by 4 to give a hand.
The clouds are trying to clear, but it’s anyone’s guess at this point. We’ll give it until 3:00 then make the call whether we’re going to race or not tonight. Standby for news
1:20PM – Go away clouds, not drying out without the sun
Track update: Looking Good, the sun’s out and it’s starting to dry up. I was able to walk it, but it was still sticking to my shoes. We’re going to leave it alone until 2:00, maybe 3:00 then get on it and start getting it ready for tonight (fill in some minor washouts, lay pipe, etc). Nothing to do around here until then, but if you’d like to help get it ready around 3:00 or so that’ll be great.
I’m heading to Lowes for some pipe and supplies. I’ll post another update around 2:00
Okay Gang, worked late and just checked the track. Couldn’t really tell, but it still looks pretty wet. Some sunshine in the morning and things should start drying out quickly. I’ll post another update when I get back here in the morning.
Once the track dries, it’s going to be awesome. Smooth, good moisture under. Gonna be some great racing. Can’t wait.
Well i guess im coming down because i cant cxl hotel…….everything permitting you are planning on a race program and not just a practice correct?
Yes, a program if at all possible. Light drizzle right now so hoping it’ll clear on out soon. Sunny and hot tomorrow, good track drying weather!
Glad to hear the track stayed together!
Status?
Fingers are crossed hoping for good news about racing tomorrow!
Lets hope its a go because i already had a hotel booked last week and no cxl :-0
Work yo magic Robbie

#greasybrah
Will do Jon, Getting reports of 3-6″ of rain and flooding last night. Heading out to the track shortly and I’ll let you know what I find…
Will the track be ready for this weekend?
It’s done, came out great. We still have to put the pipe on it and roll. The key to the weekend is going to be if we get rain and how much. I’ll keep you posted. As of right now, it’s very dry and can handle some moisture. Posted a picture above.
Hoping to go by after work tomorrow to help out…….hoping to finish before it gets too late.
We started on the track last night. Work resumes at 4:00 today and we’ll work into the evening
Heavy downpour around 3:00. Going to take a while to dry out. Might still be able to get something done tonight
Wasn’t able to get anything done last night. Waiting on it to dry some more this morning.
Mostly heavy-lifting and machine work today and I have to leave early this evening, so we won’t need any help working on the track today. Maybe tomorrow
So does this mean it’s off for tomorrow or possibly still going to happen? If there is any help needed tomorrow Steph and I will be more than happy to come help get it ready. My folks came all the way from Abilene to see this lol. Rain go away!! (And I’m in the roofing business!)
I’m running the coolest class ever, the second coolest class ever, the “it’s ok” class ever and the not even close to the coolest class ever. just sayin’
I just hope my buggy doesn’t get “probed”!
Wierdo, anything you bring is guaranteed to get probed……..HTP probe at the ready……lol.
